Operations Accountant 1 – Energy Trading and Logistics

4J Energy, LLC, a dynamic energy trading and logistics company located in the Energy Corridor (Kirkwood and I-10), is reviewing applicants for an Operations Accountant 1. This role will work directly with the Senior Accountant and VP of Finance, both former Big-4 auditors dedicated to coaching and professional development.

 

Ideal candidate will strike a balance between being a trusted resource for maintaining consistent, timely, and accurate accounting records, and being a career-minded professional interested in gaining valuable hands-on experience working across business lines and directly with company management.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain data entry associated with oil and gas volumes, transportation logistics, and owner operator settlement balancing

  • Create, maintain, and analyze accounting records by inputting and compiling electronic data and supporting documentation

  • Access online banking platforms for transaction review and analysis

  • Serve as point of contact for inquiries and problem resolution in collaboration with all levels of management, staff and external contacts (vendors, customers, etc.)

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for Management that include, analysis of key business trends, actual vs budget analysis and adherence to prescribed operational processes

  • Assist in the preparation of regulatory filings and ensuring compliance with all volumetric reporting requirements

  • Actively contribute to special projects and initiatives as assigned by management, showcasing adaptability and expertise

  • Assist with audit fieldwork for both operational and financial audits

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or a related field

  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Excel

  • Detail and deadline-oriented

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks or similar accounting software

  • Familiarity with Oil & Gas sector

  • Articulate communicator, both personable and professional
